I am in the process of creating a page summarizing all the info we have on getting payphone keys duplicated. It is at:

http://www.islandregister.com/phones/keys.html

If anyone thinks of anything I should add to this page, please let me know. I hope it will help anyone with a need to have keys made, and give them a source of all the information we have. Much of this had been learned during the refurbishing of payphones I own, and more recently, as I searched for a source for keys for my Gray Model 14.

It contains a list of locksmiths who can duplicate keys, and who have sources of the correct blanks. If you know of any others, please let me know - also leave a message here so that those on the forum will also have the information...

Thanks,

Dave

Those links to the Youtube videos on re-keying the locks, you should use their Embedding code (click the "Share" button, then "Embed" to get the code on most youtube videos) to have the videos appear on the page, so that people don't navigate away from your site looking at other videos and ending up watching Nyan Cat or something... :)

Just tidies things up and makes it look neater... :)

I've attached a screenshot plus the HTML file derived from your site with the above Embed codes inserted for the videos if you wish to use it (just rename to keys.html and replace your existing keys.html (though I'd suggest renaming the original to keys.old just in case you wish to go back to the original)... :)

I have done it this way on many of my pages (e.g. My Teletype pages where I have links to my teletype videos)
http://www.islandregister.com/phones/teletype/rtty.html

There is one problem - no one with scripts and Active-X controls turned off in their browser can see the videos. There are those who manually turn off scripts in their browser preferences due to security concerns. Incidentally, the original links opened up YouTube in a separate window using the  TARGET="_blank" attribute following the link.

Therefore, it is necessary to also have a manual link to allow those with scripts disabled to see the videos...

That's a very good point, I never thought of that (I suppose I should try browsing with Flash content turned off to speed things up!! :D), but with a simple table (I say simple, had to use Frontpage to make one!!) you can have this, so the links sit with the video position, and they're written as hyperlinks with a Text cover, so again neatens it up, I don't like "bare links" on websites (as opposed to forums), but that's just me... :)

Again, HTML file renaming and all applies... :)

Just a note to let everyone know Jody Haralson now has his own site on, showing payphones, locks, and his services.
