Title: Teleconcepts KC Bearifone II Point of Sale Demonstrator
Post by: paul-f on October 03, 2015, 01:52:23 AM
You've probably seen the Teleconcepts bear speakerphone, KC Bearifone, and its successors, such as the dog speakerphone, Rex Barkifone.

Here's a rarely seen point of sale display that was made for the retail introduction in the 1970s.  It contains a cassette player in the blue base.  When the button is pressed, the sales pitch message is piped to the speakerphone, so the prospective buyer can see the bear's eyes and mouth move.

While rather crude by today's standards, following exposure to decades of high-tech special effects, this was rocket science when the product was new, and the world was used to simple black telephones.

I posted a Youtube video of the sales pitch here:

This unit will be in the upcoming October 31 auction.
