Believe it or not, I have seen more 544's in Mohogany Brown than any other set in that color.  That is still not many!

I wonder if there was some large customer that liked that color!

Very likely, Jeremy.  It's clear that mahogany brown was continued for keysets only for several years after it had been discontinued for other sets.  See the color brochure scans that were included in the Singing Wires Bonus Pages in the May 2009 issue.  Here's one from 1960.
