Hello All,

I bought an AT&T rotary phone at a yard sale. I always open them up to see if everything is inside the case. I was surprised to see a plastic bell for the ringer. Please see photo. I usually pick out WE phones but I am sucker for them when see them. Why is it plastic? Does it devalue the phone? Please advise. (this is my first post - I like this forum a lot! but I am not sure if the photo how to post a photo.  If the embedded doesn't work please use this link: http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt223/ebaytommycam/plasticbellringer_zpsmcgnt3gm.jpg).

That's not the bell, you are missing one.  If you look under the one bell that you have, you will probably find another such plastic part underneath it.

Plastic resonator. The brass GONG fits over it. Take the other brass-gong off and you should find one just like it.

Thank you guys for the help,

I, like a lot of you, have spare parts around. I'll add the gong to it.

Thank you again!!!!
