What is a WECo D6 (six) mount "for?"

Come in Nighthawk

Got one on eBay, and it has weird wiring and also extra contact points on the right-hand "pile."

Found a diagram that seems to address it, e.g. shows the extra points, but doesn't make clear what it "does," IYGMD?

Had to think about that for a minute --- "party lines" are really not the "done thing" these days!!  Are they?  :D

So, this is how my phone would be wired up if "I" and three of my "neighbors" were sharing a "party line" then?

I think when I was quite young my grandparents had a party-line on the farm shared with a neighbor somewhere close-by along the road, but by about 1960 or so, they had a private line...  IIRC that is!!  ???
