Hi please can anyone help me, I recently bought a 706,phone from a vintage fair & I love it but it doesn't ring when it should, otherwise it's totally fine. How can I get it to ring? Thanks

Could you post some pictures of the inside of the phone (mostly of the wiring, and of the bells too just incase they're out of whack)? It could be a simple wiring issue (such as a missing strap to the ringer wiring, or needing conversion to modern standards)... :)

Hi two bloke,
It's taken a while but I finally took the phone apart & took pics. Can you help at all?

Rewire the line cord as follows:

Remove strap T6 - T7.
Remove strap T4 - T5 and insert  a 3.3K resistor between T4 - T5. Leave the strap in if you don't have a resistor.
Insert strap T5 - T6.
Red wire of line cord to T8.
Blue wire of line cord to T6.
Insert straps T16 - T17 - T18 - T19.
White wire of line cord to T18.
Green wire of line cord to T15.

Are you plugging it into a phone socket that has a ringing wire on pin 3? Try it through an ADSL microfilter dangle which usually contains a ringing capacitor
