WE 500 set Base Marking Question???

I recently purchased a 500 set on eBay purely for the touch tone adjunct, but when I received it today I flipped it over and noticed a star marking stamped to the left of the model no. See below dose anyone have any idea what the star indicates? I have never seen this before.
