Payphone installer

The dial on the W/E series single slot rotary payphone is unique in the way it is removed. I thought it would be interesting to show some of the tools used for this function. These are the tools I used to use as a payphone installer. I also used them as a residence installer.

When removing the finger wheel of the dial you turn the Allen down into a small hole in the dial base. Once the Allen makes contact and the finger wheel is held in place stop,if you go any farther the allen will fall out of the hole and you have a whole new problem. once the allen is seated in the hole you turn the finger wheel clockwise to remove it.

Payphone installer

Install your number card in the finger wheel and then reverse the process. Counter clockwise to put the wheel back on. the big reason to replace the fingerwhell was that they were melted with a butane lighter or beat to death with a handset.
