Title: Incredible Streak Continues - Today's Finds!
Post by: DavePEI on September 25, 2012, 09:53:34 AM
Hi All:

No doubt you have seen my postings about finds in the past few days. It has been an incredible streak. I can't believe the luck. It has never happened like that before!

First, Saturday, I found an NE buttset with a GPO dial

Then on Sunday a pile of tools and a nice Gamewell Alarm Box:

Monday, I picked up a N1317A farmers line switchboard:

Today, another large find from the same fellow I got the switchboard from. After selling me the switchboard the other day, he gave me a number of items, and as soon as I got the board home, he called and he and said I might as well have the other items he had.

This includes a black Uniphone #1, a burled walnut Uniphone #1 with an NF handset, a 211, pin dial buttset (needs some work), and another oak N717CG phone (missing its switchhook and one bell (I have both here in parts)

The prize it the Burled walnut #1 -  it needs clean-up, but is in lovely shape, and has that coveted NF handset. I have several with the NU handset, but the NF is even rarer.  The 101A induction coil is dated 3-18-48, the ringer 3018-48 (same day), Dial 4-11-41, No date on the D96337 transmitter, and the receiver 12-4-43. It is definitely a keeper.

The Black #1 carries the following dates; 101A 4-11-51, Ringer 1-16-51, Dial (will need to be removed to see date), Transmitter 12-6-55, Receiver 1-29-52

The Black #2 carries the following dates; 101A 12-8-49, Ringer 12-9-49, Dial (will need to be removed to see date), Transmitter and receiver will need my strap wrench to remove.

What is also nice, is the Burled Walnut phone was housed in a great looking 1500 box!

The rest will be cleaned up and used for trading fodder. All after clean-up line cords, and one handset cord will be in great shape...

I can't believe my luck! I have never had a streak like this before! Cost, $0 for these!

Dave

A burled walnut No. 1 with a NF handset-- What a great find!  I once owned a Burled walnut No. 2 with a NF, and would welcome the chance to own another.  Congrats!

Dave: How about some comparison shots of the NU and NF, maybe along side the F handset. Or have you done that in another thread in the past?

Hi Terry:

I could do that - not tomorrow, but probably the next day. However, Paul F. has them shown on his site. The NF handset is angular like the NU, but fewer sides. The D96337 transmitter is really neat - an electromagnet and diaphragm which fits into the handset. Later on, they made NU's which used a HA-1 transmitter, and yet later, the F handset..

Thanks! I have a number of both colours in NU, but this is the first NF I have found, and glad it is burled walnut.

I am glad the handset is one of the earlier NF's with the early transmitter capsule. And the price sure was right!

You mean and yet later, the "F" handset, not the G. Unless there is a FOURTH variation!

It has been great! In fact, so has the whole week. I could get used to this, but as I mentioned to Terry in a message, it would be just my luck to have this great luck, only to kick the bucket the day after and to not get a chance to enjoy it all  :D

I'd rather have one fashioned like my Northern Electric MD9021 booth. I think I'd look good in that  :)

Hi Terry:

There is another thread on this forum showing the differences between NU and NF handsets:
