I've never seen this marking on a 500 before.

It looks like a painted over refurb marking, but it's embossed on the bottom.  This was a black 7-61 500.  They let me look under the hood, most dates were 7-61, except for the ringer which was marked II 61.  July 61 would have been the 3rd quarter.  I couldn't get the handset caps off to look at the dates on the elements.
The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.
