Occupied/unoccupied rooms.
As I look through those old pics, I see a few common desk sets I remember seeing long ago.
The funny thing, some I did not realize I knew of till I saw it in the room...
The atmosphere is what made it click, seeing one in a real room setting ;)
Orson Welles' hotel room, c 1941.
Is it my imagination, or are these rooms much nicer than today's motel/hotel rooms?
Mike
:)
Great to see the transition of not only the phone but of the TV and the decorative styles through the years.
Nice phones. Not so nice rooms.
:o
That must have been some party!
Three more.
:-\
An abandoned place obviously? Any story behind it?
Looks more like Insurance photos after a Hurricane to me.

Abandoned. Photos apparently taken as found many years later.
These, an abandoned hotel in Japan (the phone on image three is a tricky find).
And at the other end of the scale...
...Coco Chanel in her apartment at The Ritz, Paris.
The Ritz, London.
Guest room, 1906.
Getting the room ready for Mr Charlie Chaplin, 1921.
Very nice candlestick in Mr Chaplin's room.
:)

Melted hotel phone.
Abandoned hotel phones.

That's where they wrote that song with this chorus.
"Stachybotrys
(chartarum) on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playin' solitaire till dawn
With a deck of fifty-one
Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me
I've nothin' to do . . ."

You must be a lot older then I thought if you know that song, LOL!
I remember it too. Although I was only 9 years old when it was released.
Opps. I don't have a clue what that song is. Very apt though. ;D

how time flies.........I hate it!

Someone's sleeping on the floor tonight, LOL!
I enjoyed these pictures. Besides the telephones, it is interesting to see the room decor, old TV sets, etc. It really takes you back to a different time.

We are overdue a new hotel room with phone photo.
This one dates from the early 1900s.
:)
Great idea FABphones! Really neat to see the phones as well as the other period appliances. A lot more flare than hotel rooms now for sure.
Not exactly in a motel, but on the sign for the Golden West Motel advertises Direct Dialing as well as Color TV. Attached is a photo of a phone in the Golden West Motel.
Address is: 23916 Hwy 99, Edmonds, WA 98026
Here is a photo of the pay phone outside the Casa Villa Motel in Columbus, Ohio.

We weren't facing the end of the world back then. We thought the future was boundless.

With that Touch-Tone phone, must be from the 80s - an era that seems like yesterday to a senior like me.
