Western Electric 151al

Hi Guys
New to the forum. I have a Western Electric 151al. no subset. I wanted to try it so I wired it to the house line. I get a dial tone but that's all. Wont let you call out or in. When I try to dial, the dial tone comes right back. Any help with how to fix this would be great

Unfortunately your candlestick is not a complete phone, it does not have the necessary components. You will need a subset or have to add a mini network to make it function. A search here will provide info on hooking it up either way.

Get a 634 or 684 subset.  It will run you about $40-60 but it will be worth it in the end.
