I really need to remember to stop posting FotM entries at the beginning of the month. :-[
Anyway, here are my actual GOOD find(s). Three ten-button Western Electric desk phones. Two of them are 1500s, and the other one is a Princess. My mom picked them up at an estate sale today, all for $4!

I value decent 10 button sets at $30-$40 as a Rule of Thumb. You would of had a good deal @ $100 (JMO). You should take your Mom to lunch.
JMO,
Jim
BTW a 1 prefix  denotes a 10 button TT from it's rotary counterpart. a 2 denotes a 12 button set. 500 rotary-1500 10 button TT -2500 12 button TT.
The same scheme works for all WE sets

I bought a white 1500 in fair-good condition a couple of years ago for $10 at a junk warehouse and resold it later on ebay for something like $77.  I also sold a blue 10-button Princess for something like $150, but that phone was in excellent shape.

Alright, being discussed is my new 1964 1500D.

I got it on eBay for 31.00 with 11 dollar shipping. (USD) I am happy because of the good price I got, the fact its the first official year of production, and it has the cool restraint.

It does have a crack and does need to be restored but nothing I cannot do.

I would like to nominate my 554 that I bought this month on ebay for $175.00,Gregg

LarryInMichigan

Someone here bought an NOS white soft plastic 554 for $30 plus shipping this month.  I don't know if he wants to be nominated or remain anonymous, but the find is certainly worth consideration.

I'd be curious to see this white NOS 554 myself and for that price it should definitely be nominated ;)

Here's my find. A 1939 NE N393BA hotel phone.  The house I now live in had one of these in the phone nook in the front hallway. I can see the witness mark in the nook. The outline of the phone is still there as well as the corresponding screw holes that match up with this one. Not a common phone from what I understand. Haven't seen many around.

Probably paid way too much, but if you find something that you want and have never seen before, grab it I always say.
Cheers........Bill

The phone was $250 on eBay which included shipping.

I discussed it today with G-Man here:

Tallguy:

Have you considered mounting this phone on the wall where the last one was? Instead of an empty wall with fade marks and screw holes in it, you could have a very beautiful hotel phone displayed there. Plus, I really like the Bulldog mouthpiece...

My find of the month is my great  grandpas 9/53 Western Electric 500,   Its in rough shape,  used to sit on his workbench in his garage,  Has burn marks on it from torches and stuff like that.  Hooked it up I got dialtone,  just need to lube the dial and clean it up a bit.  Im gonna leave it pretty much as is,  because thats how grandpa had it.
