Matilo Telephones

Picked this one up last sunday. It was an ad on marktplaats and pick up only. Luckily I was in the neighbourhood.

On inspection I saw that it had issues, but decided to buy it anyway. Only just. Because I find it very interesting and because it seems to be relatively complete and because I have a weak spot for Fuld/T&N. It has some bad problems.

I think it is a Maingau 38, because of the cradle, company logo and insides.

Please read here for more info about dating a Maingau:

Very interesting site and a very good page with good information on the (sad) history of this company in the 30ies.

Sadly the phone has two hairline cracks along the sides of the body. And at the rear near the cradle some pieces of bakelite are missing. That is all more or less reparable.

The handset also has a t-shaped crack. Hmmm.

And there is some issue with the feet. Those are not original. The originals looked simi

Insides seem to be ok, aside from the strange connection of the line cord. And the dial is connected with only 2 of the 4 wires. No diagram as yet.

Otherwise a very nice example of a early Maingau! With a TEFAG dial.

And an original plug and socket! Woahee!
