Another test set picked up for the museum, a Western Electric 35F Test Set 194714B, aka. a current flow test set. It is on its way from Arizona. These were commonly used to adjust relays and for similar applications...

The unit looks to be in excellent shape....

This 20 page BSP gives a lot more info on the set.

Thank you, Paul for passing along this information. The fellow who sold it to me remembered at one time having what he called "a large book with many diagrams" for it, but that is was long gone, so I am truly pleased that you found the document.

If anyone has difficulty using Paul's link to download a copy, here is a TinyURL version of the link:

I love test equipment and tools - I am just as thrilled when I find a new piece of test gear or tools for the museum as I am when I find a rare phone!

This is a beauty, and I just got the word that it is already on the way!

You're welcome, Dave.

I hope the long URL issue went away with the new software upgrade.  Clicking on the "Insert Hyperlink" icon now gives a window to enter the URL.  I believe this creates proper HTML so the URL won't be broken if the line wraps.

I was pleased to see that both the test set, and my bushing tool arrived in Charlottetown this morning when I checked the tracking #'s and should be here later in the morning. It is going to be just like Christmas!

I know all of you don't share my interest in telephone tools, but they are a large part of the total picture. I was brought into them by trying to represent all parts of telephony in the museum, and now I am totally hooked!

Anyway, it should be a happy day as long as all arrives undamaged!

Hi All:

Having received this test set, my interest has piqued again on the use of inspection/calibration stickers on the various pieces of test equipment I have. Most of the more complicated test equipment I have bear either inspection or calibration stickers.

Does anyone have any idea how often calibration was typically required? Obviously, they would have to be calibrated again after repair, replacements of parts such as resistors, etc. But was there an official edict on calibration frequency? i.e. whas it yearly, or did it vary as to what type of equipment it was, etc...

The photo below shows the last sticker (1981) on my 35F test set, Just about all major pieces of test equipment also bear similar stickers...

For this tester, I am looking for a couple of switchboard cords with switchboard plugs on each end. I am also looking for 3 cords with switchboard plugs on one end, and with 2-360 tools on the other end.

I would also like to find a pair of 361 tools and a pair of 365 tools to fit the 360 tools. I do have a couple here, but not enough.

Let me know if you have any of the above to spare. While normally this would go in the Classifieds section, it is better kept with the original post so people know exactly what I need them for. I may eventually post there, too. A reasonable price plus postage will be paid for the items above!
