Just for the record, when in Shawano or talking about Shawano as a vacation destination, it's easy to detect someone who's never been there. They pronounce it the way it looks - Sha-wa'-no. The correct pronunciation is Shaw'-no.

Lot of cities, towns, lakes and rivers in Wisconsin, especially the northern part of the state, with Indian names. It's always fun to watch a new TV reporter come on the air and verbally hack up Lake Butte des Morts (Oshkosh area) or the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Tribal Nation lake and vacation area (Hayard area). Knowing French helps.
