I'll add my 2-53 Ivory 302 I got from Goodwill online on 4-10-14 for $131.00 US, excellent condition.

The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.

Ivory (painted) metal 302 dated 9/40.
Sold for $64.77 on Apr. 28, 2014.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/191152774078

By early 1941,-housings and handsets for ivory, pekin red, gray green, old rose, and blue 302s were made of Tenite (thermoplastic). 302s in metallic colors (dark gold, oxidized silver, statuary bronze and old brass) were still painted metal.

The metallic color phones continued to have 5H dials with casings and fingerwheels painted to match the phones.
Ivory, old rose, blue, gray green and pekin red phones always had 5J dials with white casings. The finger wheels were originally unpainted stainless steel, but by the time thermoplastic housings were introduced, the 5J dials had clear plastic finger wheels.

All painted 302s used brown Bakelite handsets with no grooves. The handsets were painted to match the phones.
