While trying to research ship phones, I came across this beauty:

while you go thru your research, watch  for a photo of a Kellogg SEE and BEE wall mounted ship phone.

There are at least 3 in the hands of collectors.  They're are a Nicely marked  compact metal wall set.

Thats the phone. I have seen prettier examples tho.

The SEE and BEE was converted to the USS Wolverine and became a practice aircraft carrier in the Great Lakes for WW2.
I have one of these and a lot of info on the see and Bee. When it turns up I will post a new thread.

Yeah, it's in pretty sad shape.  This one belongs to somebody with the skills and facilities to restore it.  I would like to see the after pics.  Maybe those with that list of ebay phone collector handles can figure out who wins it.

This one then makes at least 4 that I am aware of, that are in the hands of collectors.
I am surprised they weren't scrapped for the War effort.

Its a TMC Telephone Manuacturing Co. type GPO 164 handset, standard bakelite GPO handset made under license.

And a dinky little base to match.

"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Jim Stettler

Was there a similar   looking handset marked GEC ?  (not so sure about middle letter)?

GEC also made GPO sets under licence, but no idea what was stamped on the handset.

Jim - in the blown up pic it clearly is embossed "TMC" downwards.

SO, GEC  did have a handset that looked like this?
The handset made me think GEC. I am trying to hone my guessing skills.
Thanks,
Jim

Made under licence by many manufacturers.
