Mr. Bones

Thanks for sharing!

At approx. 1800 this evening, I also heard an article, and interview with the researcher who discovered the footage, on "All Things Considered", on NPR. Brief, probably 60-90 seconds, but ties in nicely.

Best regards!

I believe this was also documented on one of the History Channel Modern Marvels "Engineering Disasters" programs.

I have copies of scans produced by a TCI member some years ago about the Eastland disaster - I have asked him if it is ok to post them here, which if ok, I will post as soon as I have permission.

They are of The Western Electric News, August 1915 written later in the month of the disaster and an issue of the Bell Telephone News. I do hope I receive permission, as nothing will show you the effect of the disaster to Western Electric and its employees as these will!

As promised, I asked Steve Cichorsky  if he minded my sharing his PDF scans of the August, 1915 Western Electric News and a later commemorative issue of the Bell Telephone News with you.

I found these documents very interesting several years ago, and thought they would be perfect for here! The files are in PDF format and may be downloaded from the bottom two links in this post.

It was a sad and important event in Western Electric History.

Very informative and very impressive.  The nearly one hundred years seem to fall away with these contemporary reports and illustrations.  Thanks for bringing them.  This site is truly a learning place.
