Cool, yes a white one.

This one has a little led indicator. I suppose it lights up when the Phone rings.

Have you seen the pic with the model, showing how to put the handset against her head? With the cardboard box on her head? Hilarious!

It came today.

Well lifted the dial and sat it right for desktop use, however the dial doesn't seem secure, its like kinda "floaty" when used.

I also lifted the dial and did the 180 degree rotation for wall mount, and it sits fine,if "wobbly" as before.

I take it I need to open it up and see how to secure it firmly?

The base is about the same lightweight as a Trimphone, but the handset is well heavier and more substantial.

Also I see the dial centre / numbercard can be slighty twisted to line up with the fingerwheel, but tried prying it off and stopped when I met resistance, don't want to snap it!

So before I get over enthusiastic and start opening it up, any tips?

"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Matilo Telephones

Wobly? Perhaps the dial isn´t connected to the 4 leaf springs.

Also, why is the dialcard misaligned? Then the whole dial must be misaligned?

There are various pins, slots, holes etc to make sure that the dial turns correctly and stop where necessary. Please check those out first.

I haven´t had a look how to open the front of the dial to get to the dial card yet. Won´t have time today.

Thanks to my buddy Michal for translating the diagram -
"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Great, yes. My Polish is not very good. Did find out that Bratek means Violet, though.

Oh, that cover for the dialcard, that red plastic part: if you twist it, it comes off. Like with those German dials from the Fetap 611. I may be even the same design, but I haven't checked yet.

Checked it out and indeed the german clear dial centre fits the Bratek dial.

Great, yes. My Polish is not very good. Did find out that Bratek means Violet, though.

He said to me it means "little flower", on a Polish forum about Brateks it translated as "Daisy"!

Regarding the dial centre, well that was easy once you told me.

Just a slight counter-clockwise twist, my blank number card sits underneath, when I looked at the reverse it had "52073" nicely penned on it to fit the window, so I've flipped it over, so it's not so anonymous anymore!
"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Ah, perhaps it means different things. I wondered if that odd name had something to do with the dial. Like daisy wheel.

Wikipedia gives Pansy and Violet, but not directly. Oh well, some flower.

I took the handset apart, and relocated the lug of the handset cord into the snug clear plastic retaining yoke, fits perfectly, so its just been yanked too hard at some point.

Then straightened the loops in the coil so they are all nicely uniformly coiled.

Opened the plug up, it only uses 3 terminals - looking from pin side of the plug - top left - Orangey Red wire, bottom left - Green, top right - no wire connected, bottom right - White.

I connected a line to a BT croc-clip with 3 outs - Yellow, Red, and Green (earth?).

Tried all combinations of all three on the pins in the plug, but don't get dial tone although I can hear myself breathing through the RX/TX on the handset...

It might be a dud or just needing the guts rewired?

I'd check the handset cord first. Perhaps try different cords?

As a Pole I can confirm that Bratek is a name of a flower. They have various colours - yellow, red, orange but also violet,  if you google "bratek" you will see some examples in the Images section. Hope this helps :)

Matilo Telephones

Ah, Polish. What do you think, was it called Bratek because of the flower like fingerwheel?
