Afternoon all ......   This falls under the category of "I had no idea", or some such expression.      I've never owned a Western Electric Imperial set, as they are hiard to find up here in Canada as Northern never made them, but for as far back as I can remember, I had always assumed that the white or cream colored base coverings on the Imperial sets was colored leather.     I found out today, it isn't.       It's actually "naugahyde".     I'm re-covering a box full of base plates for B1's and D1's for another collector, and once I removed the cream colored covering from the base, I discovered it wasn't leather at all.    Pictures below.   Click to enlarge.    Have a great afternoon.
