Title: AE 2 on eBay
Post by: Jester on November 12, 2012, 08:11:00 PM
I spotted this last night & have a few questions.  First of all, how hard is it to find one of these without a cracked housing(Terry)?  Also, does anyone have a figure in mind for a final price?  Auction picture included.

Does this one have a cracked housing? I own two of these and usually read about and watch any I see on ebaY but I don't recall seeing a busted one yet. Maybe I saw one with a broken cradle ear but I can't say for sure.

I have seen these into the $3xx range before and I have seen them go for just over $100. Most often $175 to $250 range I would say. They quite often come with chromed handset bands like this one has.

The seller states there are no cracks/ flaws on the cover & they have had it around forty years.  I was asking because I have no first-hand experience with this unique model & was curious as to how durable this set is.

Jester ,
On the one that I have, I noticed that the case was kinda tight . Mine shrank like the 302's did, but not enough to crack the case yet.
I have seen a lot of AE 2's over the years but not a AE 12 , which is identical to the AE 2 in appearance . The difference being AE 2 has a induction coil in the base of the phone and the AE 12 has the induction coil receiver and a wire wound 205 ohm resistor .   stub
