Was looking for something special to be our 100th Contest and look what popped up, thanks to two members alerting me to this listing within two hours of it showing up on eBay. It was listed with a starting price of $9.00 and within a few hours, 4 bidders and 4 bids later, it is up to $152.50 at the start of this contest.

The seller listed it as a "Rare big belly candlestick telephone, pree 1900 American Electric pot phone" with the item condition as "Used" and claims "The transmitter is marked American Electric. The pot part of the phone is not cracked nor repaired. As you can easily see, the nickle is gone. The contacts around the hook are all there. The wiring appears to be complete. Someone has used a modern line to wire this phone in to use as an receiving phone at one time. There are a couple of dings in the base that may or may not show up in the photos. This is basically a rare phone in unrestored condition. When you buy one like this, you do not have to worry about what has been replaced and renickled. Low starting bid and no reserve, will let the auction way set the buying price. It is not often you get an opportunity to purchase one like this.".

If you have the time, you can find over 100 rare candlesticks from that time period at the ->Old Telephones<- website. They don't list values so you are on your own when taking a guess at what the 100th phone in our Auction Contest section will end up selling for when the bidding ends on September 15th.

It's another chance to either move up a rung or to get onto the Contest Standings list, you have to play to win!

New members on the forum are always very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one.
