Can anyone here educate me on this one?  It appears to be a "bulldog" style, but front is a painted brass stamping crimped onto a brown Bakelite housing for the F1 capsule.  The center is open, covered by the same style cover used on E1 handsets with the 625A/ F1 assembly.  Contact cap is similar to that used on the 635A bulldog, except the contact for the outside ring is moved slightly and it has two spanner ports drilled in between their location.  Also, the part # is sill located on an arc- shaped tag screwed onto the front cap.  Bought this years ago because I hadn't seen one, but I haven't found any info. on it, either.  Pics. below show 626 on the left compared to a 635, front and back views.
Thanks.

I have never heard of one before.  Maybe it was a prototype or field test?

I wondered about that, Greg.  I think the 635 would be easier to service, with the one- piece front and the removal ears cast into the contact cap-- no fumbling for a spanner to get at the capsule.
