That was an option. there was also a extra watchcase rec holder that mounted on candlesticks as well.Attached to the bolt that held the transmitter cup.

It's covered in BSP  C35.301.  I don't see a copy on-line.

Here's a quick snapshot...

Paul, thanks mucho for posting that practice.  I was extremely interested to learn the real (at least for the Bell System) intended use for such a set up.  I never understood why there'd be a wide requirement for a second party "listen-in" receiver (the "mother-in-law"), but according to the practice, their intended purpose really was so you could put a receiver to both ears simultaneously and thereby help to shut out noise in the surrounding area.

thanks Paul.....I was wondering about a BSP. Just a cool phone, something you do not see every day. Certainly a must for the WE completest. Too Rich for me, my guess is $475....Doug

Very interesting! Appears to be in good condition also.
Why the mixed cords? Curly cloth on the mother-in-law and straight cloth on the handset?

My guess $450.01

Those early receiver holders were very common on 1020 mountings (candlesticks) in the very affluent suburbs north of new York City in the 1920s and 30s.
