Picked this up on eBay for $14 plus shipping. I don't usually buy this type but did because of the extension list plate indicating it was used on a ship. Since there are extensions for cargo holds and a purser I assume it was a cargo ship that carried passengers. handset looks like an AE? For which I need the cap and brass ring.

I don't know what type of handset it is, but it isn't AE.  Probably some sort of special handset for marine use.

As indicated on the handset it is a sound powered phone. It will not work on a regular phone line. I believe 2 can be hooked up to work as an intercom. Those handsets come up on eBay pretty often and go cheap.

Very interesting dial plate. The phone is Station 6 but Station 6 is not identified on the plate, all other major locations are. Could Station 6 be the radio room? And, following that pattern, each phone dial plate would have to have been different, not showing the location of the phone by number.

Would also be interesting to know what ship it came from.
