Doug,

I had one of these but sold it a couple of years ago.  Behind the glass would be advertisements (not stickers on the front).  I like the idea of making a collage of old advertisements you can find on the web.  I would paint the lamp shade as that would be more original than plating.   The shade top can also be used to store a candlestick phone.

Craig

Do you have any information on the Company that made them? I can't seem to find anything on the company. The lamp shade was originally copper plated by the looks of the edges where it was screwed to the cabinet. Thanks for the info on the candlestick phone, it never occurred to me that it could be used for that. Now I will have to find a candlestick phone to place it on top to finish it off.

Got the cabinet back today. The fuzzy spots in the pictures are from the scratched lens on my camera.
What a beautiful piece, Doug!

Doug,

Sorry I do not have any info on the company that made them as I didn't make note of it before I sold it.  I do know the collector that bought it from me and can put you in touch with him.

Thanks,
Craig

Sure that would be great Craig, PM the info when you have the time.

Thanks

This is an interesting artifact.  I sent an inquiry to Dr. Lori about it with a link to this thread.

Here's another earlier shot of 57 Bloor Street West from a different angle.   You can see the Household Finance sign on the right.

Well, that was quick.  I just got an email back saying they want $59 for the information.  She shows up at various events giving free appraisals: http://www.drloriv.com/Events

Beautiful job, Doug!

I have followed this restoration with great interest. Your efforts made it every bit as cool as I knew it could be, fine work, thanks for sharing the project.

I always find meticulous, and sometimes seemingly miraculous restorations by our members very inspiring, and motivating.

If these are 'coming out of the woodwork' now, I dang sure hope one pops out near me, 'cause I certainly want one, ever since seeing yours the first time!

Have you decided which phone to display with / on it? I'd love to see pics... this is far from over... ;) ;D

Best regards!
Sláinte!
