I have three telephone company service award pins that have a similar design with different companies named. Central Telephone Co, Middle States Telephone Co of ILL and La Crosse Telephone Corp. The La Crosse company was acquired by Century Telephone (now CenturyLink) so am I safe in assuming the other two companies were also taken over by Century Telephone?

I have another pin the same design as these but for the Central Telephone Co of ILL. Well, my research shows that these companies where all part of the Central Telephone Company which was headquartered in Chicago. Middle States and Central Telephone of Illinois served several cites in the Chicago subarbs. The La Crosse Telephone was in Wisconsin. Sprint bought out Central Telephone and leter sold them off to Century Telephone which today is CenturyLink. My head hurts reading about all of the name changes, mergers and buyouts with these companies. Typical of the landline telephone companies over time.
