New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about 5 hours ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve starting at $99.99 is a nice Wilhelm Fluted Double Diaphragm Transmitter Candle Stick Telephone, listed in the top 50 Rarest Candlesticks as #38. From the photos provided by the seller, it appears to be in good condition but lacking an OST receiver. So far, the phone has attracted 3 bidders placing 3 bids increasing the price to $227.50 and there are 17 watchers. This phone will go higher so who best knows what this item will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE:  We will use a $25 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $25 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.

The seller listed it as an "Wilhelm Double Diaphragm Transmitter Patd. 1896 Candle Stick Telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " and with the auction listing description saying "Wilhelm Double Diaphragm Transmitter Patd. 1896 Candle Stick Telephone -- A Beautiful and Rare Wilhelm Double Diaphragm Transmitter patd 1896 Brass Candle Stick Telephone in excellent condition with very little wear. The Phone sits on an oak base with 10 Brass Numbers and very little wear. Marked on the base is Wilhelm Telephone Mfg. Co. Buffalo U.S.A. The ear piece is marked Solid Patd. 1900 Missing the bottom part of the receiver. A Great Phone Fresh From an Early Attic Here in Pa."

Just a reminder of the rules.

Anyone who has placed a guess can change their guess once by placing the new guess in a "new reply" (I don't go back and look for changed guesses in old replies) as long as the change is placed before the guessing deadline (24 hours before the auction ends).
