New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed yesterday ( with a thanks to david@london for the heads ) in a 7 day auction with no reserve starting at $18.95 is a run of the mill common green 1955 WE green 500 with open center finger wheel and straight grey handset and line cords. The seller provided only 4 photos of the phone but if more are posted to the eBay listing, they will be added to this contest. Within the first 12 hour of being listed, the phone attracted 3 buyers placing 3 bids and there are 14 people watching the phone on eBay. So, once again, who best knows what this item will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE:We will use a $3 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $3 away from prior guesses for this contest.

The seller listed it as an "Green Rotary Dial Bell System Phone made by Western Electric" with the item condition as " - - - " and " - - - " and with the auction listing description saying simply "Green Rotary Dial Bell System Phone made by Western Electric -- Pictures are of the actual item - some accumulated dirt beneath the dial the feet are starting to disintegrate but overall  a very nice example of the Classic"

One with a gray retractile cord (7-55) & gray line cord sold for $153.52 with 15 bids on the 23rd I believe.

Before I can make a make a guess (or predict who will win if my guess already taken) need to know how much a straight cord is worth.

I'll just make up a number-- say 50 bucks.  So that would put it at around  $203.52

But seriously.  How much is a cord worth?  Statistics folks *hate* not having numbers to plug into projections.    :)

I have seen used curly gray cords sell for $50.00. A straight gray handset cord probably raises the selling price by $100-$150.
Just my guess.
