Interesting and seldom seen Bell System 1930s Telephone Office sign. It doesn't look like much but I've never seen an actual example or photo of one:

Anyone win this one?
That was me. At first I thought it was a repro because there's a repro that uses that style of bell but says PUBLIC TELEPHONE and it's smaller. Taking a closer look I saw that the pictures showed the height difference between the colors and the back looked like it should. Also the fact that it was 18 inches long. Unfortunately 2 other people also picked up on it so I had competition. Thank goodness for my snipe program.
I think I was your main competition at $183 or something. Sorry about that!
The only reference I've seen is in the Ron Knappen book, and it is a reproduction of an article about new sign designs from 1934.
I didn't say anything on the forum because I was hoping it would fly under the radar.
I have radar and sonar-I check "telephone sign" at least 2x per day. I thought no one noticed it.
We need to coordinate so we don't drive the price up on each other. How does this sound? I'll only bid on telephone items that have a vowel in the name and you only bid on items with no vowel in the name.
That's too confusing. Why don't I bid on all the Bell System signs and you stick to the Independents?
Got the sign today. It's a nice one.
Any pictures?
Got to find a permanent location for it.
It looks like you don't have enough room for it. You can always send it to me.
