Rare Year 1944?

Is a 1944 manufactured dated 302 phone especially rare.  In one aspect it seems different than other 302s.  It has the base that is usually found on the metat phones but the bell is mounted with two screws instead of the grommeted frame setup.  It looks like a factory job as there are no holes for the usual three rivets and the two screws are countersunk in the base.
The reason for this question is that this phone has a plastic case also dated 1944 that has the typical cracked corners, and I was going to take it apart to use for parts.  I didn't want to ruin something something that was a true rarity.

Good question!

I haven't researched this, but have been told that production during the war was either limited or virtually stopped, so it's logical that a 44 set would be scarce.

Howard;

Just curious, are the ringer gongs, steel, or brass ?

Here are some pix of the phone in question.

It could be that the high capacity machinery normally used to make the phone parts was busy at the time making war materials, so production was done elsewhere at the time.
