What was the stool used for? It looks very handy for working on low things.
How tall is it?
It is 13 inches tall, Howard. They were used by CO techs to sit and stand on while working at the frames, and anywhere a stool was needed. Putnam also made a line of wooden ladders used by the telephone companies. Rumour has it that these even got used as lunch stools from time to time :)

Being made of red oak hardwood, it is strong, and its design makes it extremely stable. It will be very useful for both sitting and standing!

Karnac see's more sitting around doing nothing in Dave's future. I think I should order one of these as well!

Looks good Dave! How much more than the estimated $10 was the shipping!?

Hi Terry:

Cost to ship to Canada was $30, plus as predicted, because it came UPS, a further $38.99 for brokerage fees.

But at least it is here, and it is beautiful - exactly the same as the original Bell/AT&T ones, and it is strong enough to hold a barn dance on! Just throw some dance wax on the varnished hardwood top, and away you go! :D

YeeHaw!

Thanks to the information posted by DavePEI, I ordered a stool from the Putnam Ladder Co. It is nearly identical to the Bell System one I got from the Eurika, CA Step-by-Step office about 15 years ago.
