while browsing ebay, I came across 2 more phones that have been repainted in "Newer" colors.... Forest Green and "Carolina" blue... both being sold by the same person. I thought these to be intreiging as I've not seen anyone else offering these colors. the one phone has a mismatched handset, a SC "Horsehoof" style handset. makes the phone look definetly odd.... Both decently priced, but unfinished....

There is a chance the green 302 is from COT. that was one of our colors but it looks as if it was not well finished.Would have used a brass fingerwheel as well.No way did the blue set come from COT.Those SC handsets were bad news, many were open. 1243 sets often had bad networks as well

That seller has four 302s for sale, the two colored ones and two black ones.

The paint job on both of the colored sets is poor to bad. On top of that, neither comes with a number card retaining ring.

Now, for two more "C" notes, oldphoneguy has a very nicely done painted 302 in an interesting color that is a sharp looking phone, albeit not a WE standard color.

What kind of handset is that on the blue  302? It looks like the style of handset on my Dutch '52 PPT.

That blue 302 has a SC handset.most likely off a 1243 set.If on your Dutch set, someboby put it there.Does not belong

The forest green one would look great with brass. wonder if anyone has ever tried burgundy red as a color..... that would be different..

At COT we did both dark green and also burgundy.Had brass fingerwheels and optional handset rings.Burgundy uasually had chrome trim

COT? was that "Conneticuit old Telephone" or something else? I don't recognize the initials... Did OPW ever offer these colors?

This SC just came up on eBay with that handset on the blue 302. Looks better on the SC than the 302. The seller described the phone as:  "Stromberg Carlson rotary dial vintage telephone. Black. Model 1443A. Rewired to work but slightly garbled in sound.  Black.  Fun conversation piece and great in antique room deco."

This is a Type 20 handset.  It was used by SC starting with the 122x-series, then on the 124x, 125x, and finally on the 14xx-series, before being replaced with a new design, closer to the WECo G-type, for the 1500s.
