New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.
Listed a little less than 2 days ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve ( with thanks to pourme for the tip ) and starting at $100.00 is another AE 40 but this time in Ivory and with chrome trim and an extensicord. Once again we have a seller who thinks blurry and limited images will get top dollar for this phone so given the color, the trim and the blurry, limited pictures, this phone should make it a difficult guess. The more rare colors have been seen in the contests and have gone for a lot more than $100. Since being listed, the phone received 1 bid from 1 buyer. I'm sure it will go higher with 11 current watchers so once again, who best knows what this phone will sell for when the auction ends?
NOTE: We will use a $5 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $5 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.
The seller listed it as a "Vintage 1950's Monophone Electric Telephone Yellow Bakelite 4.5' Braided Cord" with the item condition as "Used" and " Very good to excellent condition " and with the auction listing description saying "This is a 1940 to 1953 Monophone Electric Yellow Bakelite Table Model in very good to excellent condition. It has a 4-1/2' Braided Cord and sits on a 10-sided base. There are No chips or cracks on Bakelite. -- The rotary dial works but does not spring back by itself. The base is 5-1/4" x 8-1/4". -- The phone itself weighs 5-1/4 pounds."

Thanks to all who played along in this contest.
More evidence if just how "off" the current pricing is on these phones. Of course Ivory is the least valuable of the colored 40/50 sets but still...less than $200.

WOW! I guess now is the time to pick up some color AE's. This is not the first one to go low in recent months.
