New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed Sunday morning 7 day auction with no reserve ( thanks to Fabius for the heads up on this paystation ) is another great two piece payphone from the estate of Paul Vaverchak. The phone was listed at $9.99 and since being listed is up to $305.00 with 5 bidders offering 14 bids. This phone is a question as raised by kleenax, the listing agent for this phone for the estate, as found in the listing description and photos.

So, with that said, once again, who knows best what this phone will sell for when the bidding ends?

The seller listed it as an "EARLY WESTERN ELECTRIC? Gray Telephone Paystation Model 150U Pay Telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and "Appears to be in "as removed from service" condition, with well-worn finish, and a few nicks and scrapes." with the auction listing description as "WESTERN ELECTRIC ? Model 150U Pay Telephone || A 150U? I'd never heard of a model 150U Western Electric - A very unique and unusual example from the estate of Paul Vaverchak.  This one is a well-marked example from Paul's collection of an unusual pay phone that very few collectors today will ever have the opportunity to own. || Note the early Western Electric bottom housing with it's unique surrounding escutcheon and tag. || The stand-out character here is the unique stamping of the original /steel coin chute and unique coil mounted in the early Western Electric bottom housing. || Note the unusual internals of this 150U, and it's unique set-up. The paper wiring schematic has been painted black and stamped with "150U"  || What I didn't notice at first look was this unusual attachment mounted behind the dial shroud. I am told it was to help prevent dropped dimes from lodging in the back of the dial shroud. Note that the "point" of the attachment is directly below the dime slot of the coin gauge. || The unique coin chute works perfectly, and the gong and bell sound as-designed when coins are dropped in their respective slots. Below is a close-up of the beautifully stamped, original 1st-generation Western Electric cast vault door || The dial is a proper #4, and works well. Notice too that all dates seem to correspond with a 1939-1940 manufacture, consistent with Western Electric's drive into manufacturing their own payphones after their separation from Gray Telephone Paystation Co."

NOTE: we will use a 3% gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, guess gaps of 6+% can be split. I'll help with these as the auction goes forward and guesses are entered.

It's another chance to move up a rung or to get onto the CRPF -> Contest Standings <- list,

The winner of Auction Contest #148 is WesternElectricBen, who with the 1st entry into the contest offered the winning guess of $1,300.00 giving him his 3rd auction contest win. Once again, our congratulations go out to WesternElectricBen for another win in the CRPF Auction Contests and for moving up one rung in the Contest Standings.

The phone was won by w***e ( 1396 )with his first and only bid placed 38 seconds before the auction ended at high bid of $1,063.00 to take the phone home. The auction had 11 bidders and 33 bids. There were no last second snipes but it was another great win for the Paul Vaverchak estate.

Check out the updated Contest Standings to see who's who through 148 contests and the latest additions to the CRPF Hall of Fame

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win.
