I remember this ad. I think this is when "Genuine Bell" was drummed into my head as the only "real thing".  That's probably why I only collect Western Electric and have very few phones that are not.

Same here.  My personal stash is all Western Electric with just a couple of Uniphone #2's.

I'm sure as a younger person I handled some BPO devices before I was interested enough to make a note of it, and I remember a house that had an Ericofon in a bedroom.

I am sure I also handled a few "Northern Electric" phones without knowing it, assuming they were Western Electric.
