Today my family is visiting downtown Milwaukee (mainly because I want to stop in local antique stores) and right now we're in the Historic 3rd Ward. This is probably Milwaukee's most prominent and, at the same time, it's most historical section. I don't think any of the turn-of-the-century buildings on most of these streets were ever torn down!

If it didn't have so much traffic, it would be perfect for a movie set! Everything is just so well-preserved!!

Nice looking place!  Good to see saved and used buildings.

Milwaukee is quirky in the fact that the people living there are very artistic, but in the way that they reuse, repurpose, and preserve industrial pieces and places. Needless to say, the buildings are part of the new preservation and repurposing inspiration, and very few of them (if any) been torn down since the 1970s because of a lack of use. If an old building is for sale or rent, someone really creative will find a fitting use for it! :)

Maybe an old building could be made into a museum and phone shop?

Yeah, you and Doug are right. "Shotz Brewery was a fictitious analog of the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company" according to the IMDB info.

Here are some better pictures I took later on that day:

These streets just look so untouched!
