What was/is this 1940 SC desk set used for, how was it used?

That was part of a dictation system.  Some of the manufacturers of such systems used parts of telephones, but the innards will be all different.

More recent than 1940, but I am not where I can look it up at the moment.  The device itself looks to be an intercom or part of a dictating system.

My guess is that the phone is between 1949 - to when SC was licensed to make 500 sets. But that is just my guess.

Is this telephone factory original? I've seen similar things on 302s also.

The Stromberg Carlson parts are late 1950-1960s.

Interesting ad showing a single F-80 seat sub sonic Shooting Star at the top of the page. The insert is the T-33 two seat trainer version of that aircraft. I think they were used to get pilots ready to fly the supersonic F-86 Saberjet, if memory serves.

I wonder why the jet tie in, something new, fast, expensive . . . ? ;)
