I am having problems getting my Kellogg Redbar telephone to dial out properly on a regular land line..  If I don't hurry the dial back to rest, the dial tone returns or I get the standard phone company error message about dialing correctly.  The dial does not seem to be sticking and slow to return on its own.  I have to do some serious speed dialing to place a call on this phone.  This is also the only rotary phone that has this problem.  All my other rotary phones work fine on this line.

The dial needs an internal cleaning and is not running at the correct speed. See the various topics on the forum pertaining to dial cleaning. If you have further questions, ask again. Start  by lubricating the dial by following the topics on dial lubrication. If that fails, you will need to do a more complete cleaning and lubrication...

I don't recommend you begin with dissassembling the dial. Try simple lubrication first. Then, if you are still having problems with it and you are nervous about going much further with it, send it to Steve Hilsz. Just the dial. He will repair it at a very reasonable price.

It is possible also that you have dirty contacts. Try slipping a piece of paper between then soaked in contact cleaner. Use nly normal paper - nothing with a grit on it.

Anther possibility is the dial timing may be off. Steve can correct that for you along with a proper cleaning and lubrication. It will be better than new.
