At the same thrift store where I found my first American Electric, each time I went back for auctions, they had more phones. Second one is also an AE, later model. Third one is an ITT. Both new phones are in great condition... little spit and polish and I'll be off to the races.

So far, I'm in for under $100, so I figure I'm doing ok. Had a look around for a black ITT NE228A online, didn't see anything, so I'm pretty excited about it. Now I need to get a pulse converter so I can dial out, but from my research, they seem pretty cheap.

be sure to read the threads on the converters before you buy,  some work better than others, some far worse.

Automatic Electric 40 on the left and an AE 80 in the middle. Looks like another AE Collector in the making....

NE228A is the part number for a metal plate that attaches to the back of a 554B set in order to convert it to modular. 554Bs were made by ITT, Stromberg-Carlson, Western Electric and Northern Electric/Northern Telecom.
