I was going to put a phone inside an acrylic case and possibly display it with a light. Could anyone tell me if the light would eventually do damage to the phone?

It is a bakelite phone.

I think it depends on what kind of light you want to use, halogens create a lot of heat and could cause heat damage, some fluorescents can put out certain UV spectrum light which could cause UV damage to plastics, cloths and rubbers... :-\

LED based lights on the other hand, that could be uses as they're generally cool-running and have a narrow light output band, you just have to decide on what colour temperature you wanted ("Warm-white", "Daylight-white" or "Cool-white"), and what type you'd use cos there's so many different forms of LED lighting, like striplights, spotlights, 12vDC, 120/240vAC, directional, wide beam, there's lots to choose from... :D
