Was this ever a real payphone?

Not sure who made this originally so it's going under "other".  It was bad enough they "modernized" it, but at least it's not a lamp.  I'm wondering if it ever was a real payphone or if the coin slots are another fake modification.

Old phone that works on modern phone service
It has been modernized to use modern phone line with rotary on inside very cool hand held ear piece works and microphone works and cool bells when ringing all oak wood.

Briny...both of those metal parts were repro'd in the 80's. My guess is NO!!!!...Doug
