I got an avocado princess phone dated 67. I found that date all over the phone except on the 4010b net. That has no marking at all on it. I found some pictures on the site of other 4010b nets and it seemed like they were not dated also. Am I wrong to think that WE stopped dating these networks?

I only remember seeing network dates on the early Princesses, the 701 models made from 1959-63. But I may have missed seeing them since it's so cramped inside one of those phones. Generally the network dates to the same date as the base on a Princess. I bet they were rarely, if ever, replaced. And they rarely went bad. I don't remember ever having one that didn't work.

The most common failure points in Princess phones seem to be the dials (in 701s especially) and the single-gong ringers. And the lamp socket, which is often missing. Also the housings have a tendency to crack on the sides when they're dropped.

Thanks Jonathan,

The network is riveted to the base so that makes sense!
