Moving right along... Here are two leather covered phones from Italy, made by Telcer.  The Cabriolet was sold in the US by TeleQuest.  Anyone know the  model name for the second set?

They seem to have missed out on some of the legendary Italian design elegance.

In general, it seems leather was quite popular with Europeans.

Don't know the model of the second one but it looks like it is from the "cubist" period of phone design ;D

After seeing the phones above, finding a leather covered one has just been added to my to-do list.

The Telcer Leather phone above is apparently the "Sirius" model.  (From a friend who has a yellow one -- without leather.)

Here's a photo of a GTE Flip Phone, with leather cover...

Here's another one!

Apparently this leather covered Ericofon was not done by the company, but by an outside shop.  Looks neat, though.

Well,  when this topic started I said on a posting that I had to get a leather phone.

I now have one. Yippee!

Thanks Remco for letting know about this auction.

Congratulations, Russ!

That combination looks great.

I see it has one of those strange handset cords.  You can probably retrain it around a small dowel to get the kinks out.

This topic has been quiet for a while.  Surely we haven't run out of leather phones!

Most of the phones shown so far are reasonably traditional phones covered with tasteful leather.

Now, for something completely different, here is a photo from the internet.

Only missing some chains! Oh wait a minute, there's a chain clipped onto the fingerwheel.

The next time someone asks us what to do with a 302 with a cracked corner, we can point them to this photo.

I have a question about ITT "Jewelbox" phones.  I kind of like the way they integrate/camouflage the handset.

But how do you pick up the handset?  It looks like there's no way to get a grip on it.
Ralph

Ralph,

There's a ridge on the end of the handset to facilitate picking it up.  Photo here:

Thanks Paul.

It seems clumsy to me.  I imagine I'd drop it upon answering most of the time unless I used two hands.  Maybe I'm the one who's clumsy.

I still find the leather bound Jewelbox models attractive, though.

You're welcome, Ralph.

Like many things, it's probably awkward at first, but becomes easier as you progress up the learning curve.
