My son, Jeffery left for Edmonton this past Sunday. He was chosen to be PEI's representative to the Skills Canada National Competition in the IT - Network Systems Administration category. He was chosen as a result of a province wide competition to select the best in IT. He will be competing against Canada's top administrators, one from each province, during the competition Monday and Tuesday, with the closing and awards ceremony on Wednesday. Just getting to go in the first place was an incredible opportunity - we are very proud of him. As of the end of the competition, neither we, nor he knew how he had done. That will be announced at the closing and awards ceremony. A major celebrity they will all meet is Mike Holmes, Canada's most trusted contractor (Holmes on Homes, Holmes Inspection, Handyman Superstar Challenge; and its American counterpart All American Handyman, Holmes in New Orleans, Holmes Makes It Right, etc.), who is there to support the building trades present.

News Flash! Wednesday 2:30- Jeffery won the silver medal in the Skills Canada Network Administration in Edmonton a few minutes ago! We watched as he received his medal on the network stream direct from  Edmonton. This means he is the #2 young Network Administrator of all of Canada! Atta go, Jeff! He should be back from Edmonton tomorrow afternoon or Friday morning.

Just has to brag about my smart kid in a field akin in a way to telephones! Jeff is upset he didn't get Gold, but we aren't. What a feat for him to beat out every network admin student in Canada's High Schools, Universities and Colleges, all but one. We took his girlfriend out for supper tonight to celebrate his success!

Photos captured from the  network video feed from the closing ceremonies and Jetslide.

give the boy a coconut!

He deserves it! Last night, in lieu of our being able to take him out for supper, we took his girlfriend out to supper. He will be back in the next day or two...

Easy. I think I will go for gold next year  :)

Actually, he tells me he is going back next year, because it is in Vancouver, and he wants to see Vancouver. Course, he has to pass the hurdle of winning the regional competitions first! But I have full confidence he will!
