A patriot? So you're going to get rid of that Tesla Phone, then?  ;D

5 Pounds? Nice. Also a red one? Will you post pics?

I have some Polish acqaintances, but not that I can ask them to bring dusty old phones to me.  :)

Thanks for the link. More interesting stuff indeed. There are a couple of cold war eastern block red phones I'm interested in.

But I also still for example a red trimline (US and GPO), Contempra, Grillo, Fetap, etc etc.

I didn't ask for a particular colour, so it will be a nice or unpleasant surprise!

They come in a nice range of retro colors.  :D

Here is that sound file.

Found a manual/drawing with explanation of different parts.

A polish colleague was kind enough to translate (and her grandmother used to own exact such a phone).

My friend has secured one for me in red/black same as yours for 9.95 Zl and it was delivered to his address in Poland by the next day, now he's posting it to me in the UK.

(Gosh - the post office service in Poland must be superb!)

Can you elaborate about the lift up dialling pad?

Sounds great! And Polish shipping costs are not very high, I take it? :-)

You can turn the dial for wall configuration by pulling the dial up and then turning it half a turn. There is also a wall bracket for this Phone, but it is often missing. (and some have a light and a earthing button).

I can take pics if you like.

Yes please!

It's not here as yet, he has to post it back to the UK from Poland.

Here are the pics. The last 2 are of the bottom side of the dial and the little frame it was mounted on. The dail has some stubs that slot into the frame to guide the turn and stop it where needed. You can only turn it one way.

The 4 blade like back plastic blades act like springs and hold the dial in place.

Mate got some pics of mine (not here as yet).

Dial is half loosened, and handset cord has popped out at handset end, curious 4 pins (+ 1 plastic pin) plug.

That type of line connector was used in the Soviet Union and possibly other eastern European countries.  Two of the phones I bought from former USSR countries had them.

Great, yes that'll be a Polish plug, isn't it? Mine was sent from Kroatia and had a 3 pronged plug. I managed to figure out which wire was which with wikipedia and a schematic I found on internet.

Perhaps the handset cord is loose, because it is a replacement? All the pics I have seen of the Bratek had black cords. Also the color of the cord doesn't match the color of the phone. Does it the cord fit onto the handset?
