New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.
Listed about 2 days ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve ( with thanks to Doug Rose and WEBellSystemChristian for the tips ) and starting at $9.99 is an very nice WE 1952 Blue 302. The seller provided very good internal and external pictures showing a phone in very good condition. Since being listed, the phone received 21 bids from 5 buyers increasing the price to $888. With 5 days left in the auction, how much higher will it go so is the big question and who best knows that answer?
NOTE: We will use a $5 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $5 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.
The seller listed it as a "Blue Western Electric 302 Vintage Thermoplastic Telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and "Great condition with parts original to the phone" and with the auction listing description saying "This is a blue Western Electric model 302 dial phone. Has original cloth cords both in great shape; mounting cord has a 4-prong plug. The base, induction coil, housing, ringer, number 5 dial and receiver element all have 3-1952 dates, the transmitter element is 2-52. -- There is only minor wear and phone has a very clean and reflective finish. The original blue paper number insert is still in the center of the finger wheel. This is an exceptionally nice telephone in working condition and looks great. There are no chips, stress cracks, etc. in the plastic base or handset. There are only minor scratches that should buff out. The transmitter cap is shrunk around the transmitter element. -- There are vents covered with original mesh on the bottom so the sound of the ringer can be heard. The bottom of the base has little to no wear from use and has felt covered feet. A beautiful blue 302"
