Old Transmitter .... Big Price!

I saw that.  Crazy price - worth about $300 in my opinion.

WOW!  $885 for just the transmitter!  I  shudder to think what the complete Dictaphone would cost!

Thus transmitter has three things going for it:

The 7 digit transmitter tag
The rare early style transmitter cup
The maxim mouthpiece

Still I would not expect the combination of these parts to fetch more than $400 on a really good day.

Do you think ego and emotion was at play to make the price go above your predicted value?

Is there something extra special about this piece that maybe we don't know?

I think 2 people who have a phone that needed that part. Both were willing to pay whatever it took to complete their prized phone!
