its been about 6 years since I had wired my 212 and I finally dug it out and hooked it back up. it works, except wont dial out.... I looked in my files but don't have the schematic for the 212. can someone direct me to the right place to find it.... the library does show it right away... and I know its in there somewhere....

What kind of 212 ?
212 sets have either G2 or G7 handset mountings.
212-A, -B, or -C used an induction coil subset, while the 212-L and M used a 685A.
For use today, a 212 can be wired just like a 211, unless it's used for a key system.

What type subset are you using? If you are using a 684 or 634, did you connect the black wire from the subset to BK on the hookswitch or the B terminal (where the blue dial lead from BK on dial is connected)? It should be on B.

684/634: 4 wires to subset.

685A: 5 wires to subset. Black handset wire connects to B in set. B in phone connects to B in subset. Black dial wire connects to BL terminal, then BL connects to 2 (or C) in subset. 502-200-404 (subset)

the schematica are frustrating because I'm using a 634BA subset and the schematics show a 425 network and not a 101A network.... but, I did get the wiring done and the phone dials out just fine now.... what wire would I put across a key switch if I wanted to "Lockout" the dial?

C38.537 (211A, B, C, D) is NOT for a 425 network, rather, since there are 4 wires, it is for a 634 or 684:

Green from phone to GN on 101A induction coil
Red from phone to R on 101A
Yellow from phone to L2-Y on 101A
Black from phone to BK terminal in subset (with black condenser wire)
